Stipulations and Working Process of Admitting International Students
for Master’s or Doctor’s Degrees in Shanghai Normal University

1. Requirements

 2. Application
1) Overseas Students Application Form in SHNU (for Postgraduate students) can be obtained on request at the International Students Office, or downloaded from its website.
2) Candidates shall hand in or send by post to International Students Office a completed application form, a photocopy of passport and visa (if possible), application fees(¥420), exam fees(¥500)and other relevant materials before the deadline (by the end of March for candidates for Doctor’s degree, and by the end of May for candidates for Master’s degree).
3) International Students Office will examine the applying qualifications and stamp its official seal on the application form for approval.
 
3. Exam
1) International Students office shall send the application forms to Graduate Department of SHNU, which is responsible for the exam paper designing, exam supervision and exam paper scoring.
2) The date for the Entrance Exam for Doctor’s and Master’s Degree Candidates is in June every year, and the specific dates and time can be found in the written notice sent by the Graduate Department.
3) Successful examinees shall have their other admission qualifications examined and approved by the Graduation Department, which shall sign and stamp the official seal on the application form, and return it to the International Students Office.
 
4.Visa

1) International Students Affairs Office is responsible for sending Visa Application for Study in China(JW202 Form)and Admission Notice, and informing colleges concerned.
2) JW202 Form and Admission Notice, the candidate should apply in person for the student visa (X visa) in the Chinese embassy or consulate.
3) On special occasions, students can first apply for tourism visa (L visa) to enter China, and SHNU shall assist in the transferring procedures for the student visa.

 
5. Enrollment
1) With JW202 Form and Admission Notice, students should come to the university to register in person and pay tuition fees on the date specified on the Admission Notice. In special cases when students cannot register by the required date, they must inform the college beforehand and have the approval of delay in registration.
2) International Students Office is responsible for arranging students’ physical checkup, and organizing programs for policy and safety education. It also handles those procedures such as obtaining the residence permit in China.
